Guest speaker: John Elkington
John is one of the founders of the global sustainability movement. He has worked as a strategic advisor to businesses across the globe for 50 years, has co-founded four businesses since 1978, and serves as Founder & Chief Pollinator at Volans.
He has served on over 80 boards and advisory boards—and currently chairs an Advisory Council on Sustainability and New Markets for Neste (Finland) and an Impact Valuation Advisory Council for Novartis (Switzerland).
John has addressed over 1,500 conferences around the world and was a faculty member of the World Economic Forum from 2002-2008. He is the author or co-author of 20 books including the million selling Green Consumer Guide. His most recent book—Green Swans: The Coming Boom in Regenerative Capitalism—was published in April 2020 by Fast Company Press and has reinforced his reputation as ‘The Godfather of Sustainability’.
He has helped inspire and incubate movements including the B Team, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, the Global Reporting Initiative, and B Lab UK. In 2009, he was named 4th in an international survey of the top 100 CSR leaders, after Al Gore, Barack Obama and Anita Roddick.
In 1994, John coined the phrase; ‘Triple Bottom Line,’ and in 1995 the popularisation ‘People, Planet and Profit’ (variously known as the 3Ps, TBL or 3BL). Among other things, the framework now provides the intellectual DNA for over 7,000 B Corporations worldwide. In September 2021, John received the World Sustainability Award.

Guest speaker: Luke Ashman, Founder, Not Impossible
Luke is the founder of Not Impossible – an online marketplace helping 16-25-year-olds find work that matters to them, by turning work experience into something busy employers want to host.
Previously Finance Director at Bristol B Corp Pukka Herbs, growing the business to €100m+, 10+ years at PwC in their Deals team and a former teacher through Teach First. Luke is passionate about business being a force for good, especially around accelerating social mobility and educational disadvantage.

B Corp certified and award-winning executive search and leadership development specialists. Sherrington Associates transform corporate cultures by diagnosing and developing culture programmes, then coaching and recruiting senior leaders aligned with their clients’ values and purpose.
Rob will also tell us about Sherrington’s ‘4A Model of Sustainable Leadership’; a ground-breaking, evidence-based, consensus model of sustainable leadership.

Guest speaker: Anna Rose Bowler, Marketing & Communications Lead, A Good Thing.
Anna joined the A Good Thing team in April 2022 as a Marketing and Communications specialist.
When she first heard about A Good Thing, she knew she wanted to be part of the team. Anna has experience working with a range of third-sector organisations and has sat on two boards of trustees. She is passionate about supporting charities to receive gifts of tangible items alongside grants, monetary donations and regular income generation.
Being a geographer at heart, she is keen to ensure that we preserve the future of our planet. She believes stopping items from going to landfills is a small step that every business can take to play a part; sharing is caring!

Guest speaker: Liz Buchanan, Supply, Operations & Sustainability Director, Lucky Saint.
Liz Buchanan has 30+years of supply chain experience starting her career at Blue Chip FMCG giants Nestle, Unilever and Campbell’s Soup. She’s been working at Lucky Saint for three years, and led them through B Corp certification, and this has fired up her drive for sustainability across the business. The learning curve never stops being steep, and Liz enjoys this challenge.

We will be joined by Abel & Cole, a certified B Corp on a mission to simplify sustainable shopping, prioritising both the planet and people. They source organic, sustainable food while minimising packaging, making it easy for consumers to choose a greener weekly shop.
We will also be welcoming the wonderful ‘Incredible Edible’ as our December community speaker, to help us better understand the ground-level challenges of food insecurity in our local communities.
